Updates will be delayed

February 6, 2010 by Bret Nellor, under HBR.com Updates.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I’ll be a little behind posting updates after the Kansas game on Saturday night. I have to travel out of town for a funeral and will not be back until Tuesday. Not sure if I’ll have much time to post or access to internet. So please bear with me. Thanks!

I’m done riding the bench!

December 5, 2009 by Bret Nellor, under HBR.com Updates.

So I feel like I should apologize. I’ve neglected this website since June of this year. Been riding the bench you might say. Unfortunately it was somewhat intentional. Not because I suddenly began to dislike the Husker basketball program or Doc Sadler but rather because of my own life situation.

Around the end of May, I was laid off from my job. With the recession, the state of the economy and the job market at that time I knew I was in for a challenge. It was and has proven to be tough finding a new job. So, I told myself that I would put this website on hold until I found a new job. I just didn’t want this website to be a distraction for me while searching for a new job.

One of the things that a person goes through while being unemployed and searching for a new job is a bit of depression. You become focused on finding a new job and each time you’re turned down it wears on you. You begin to lose the joy you previously found in your hobbies. Not a fun place to be.

So now, here I am at the beginning of December still unemployed and the 2010 Husker basketball season already underway with a respectable 5-1 record. I haven’t been to any of the games. (Another side effect of being unemployed and being extremely mindful of the family budget.) Of course, I’ve still been paying close attention to the team and their early progress. And I miss writing about the Nebraska basketball team that I love.

Despite still searching for that elusive job, I’ve decided to get back into the swing of things here. Granted, I’ve “missed” the first 6 games, but I’ll do my best to stay on top of things from here on out. I learned a lot from running this site last year and I will change things up a bit, but I hope you’ll continue to read and follow the Huskers with me during this season. Go Big Red!

Should Diaz play this season?

January 22, 2009 by Bret Nellor, under HBR.com Updates.

New poll question up. Should Brian Diaz play for the Huskers this season?

I say redshirt him. I just don’t think he could possibly be ready to play at the Big 12 level. There’s no reason to use up a year of eligibility when he probably wouldn’t contribute much. But…I’m not the coach. If Doc Sadler believes he’s got game and can help the this year, it’s his decision.

New Husker Basketball Report Poll!

December 22, 2008 by Bret Nellor, under HBR.com Updates.

I added a new poll to the sidebar. It was pretty obvious that everyone thought that Toney McCray would have the biggest impact of all the Husker newcomers. And certainly he has proved that with his play up to this point.

So now I want to know where you think Nebraska will finish in the Big 12 this season. I submitted my vote for 7th. I’m anxious to see what all of you are expecting from the Huskers as we start winding down the non-conference portion of the schedule.

New poll about the Husker’s “black” road uniforms

August 26, 2008 by Bret Nellor, under HBR.com Updates.

I added a poll to the sidebar last night dealing with the Husker’s “black” road uniforms. Remember those?

There’s not much info or pics online regarding the black uniforms, but I did find this attempt to bring back the black uni’s on Husker Hoops Central back in ‘05.
