Kansas State crushes Nebraska 76-57
February 2, 2010 by Bret Nellor, under Husker Basketball Game Recaps, News.

#11 Kansas State left no doubt who the better team was on Tuesday night in Lincoln. The Wildcats put up a 76-57 win that really didn’t feel that close. With the loss Nebraska falls to 13-9 (1-6) while Kansas State improves to 18-4 (5-3).
The Huskers were led by Jorge Brian Diaz who scored 13 points. Ryan Anderson also reached double figures with 10 points. Denis Clemente led 4 Wildcats players in double figures with a game high 23 points and 5 assists.
Turning point in the game:
- After NU cut KSU’s lead to 7 points early in the second half, Clemente responded by nailing 3 straight 3-pointers to push their lead back out to 16 points. The lead eventually grew to 23 points before K-State began to pull back.
Encouraging points:
- Jorge Brian Diaz was really the lone bright spot for the Big Red tonight. He had some issues with chip shots and defense, but he continued his aggressive approach on the offensive end. His best basketball is ahead of him but he’s showing that he has the ability to play in the Big 12. He just needs to bulk up and add some strength.
This was a tough game to watch. Nebraska had a decent plan going in but they really shot themselves in the foot. They couldn’t knock down easy shots, they turned the ball over way too much, they were out-rebounded and were disappointing on the defensive end. Whenever a Husker opponent drops 40 or more points on NU in the first half this season, you can bet their chances to win are slim to none.
Nebraska now has to try to rebound because the schedule does not let up and another 5 game (or more) losing streak is very possible.
